IT'S A SUNNY, SUNNY DAY and after two cups of coffee—one at a favourite café across town, and the other in the leaf-strewn yet still-green garden—it's off to a shoot; and to make up for yesterday's sudden disappearance due to a project, a few enchanting images of inspiration [not quite a million, but a little more than fifty] to make up for it . . .

happy friday & for those who have just arrived or who may have missed, a give-away x

{style inspiration | DIY : how to make a beautiful birdcage veil]

HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN LOVE with birdcage veils; sometimes called Russian veils or French netting, they are sexy and sophisticated, and in black, can add a little edge and a lot of chic-ness to an everyday outfit.  Had never fathomed, however, how easy they are to make, with just a fabric hairband, a needle & thread and a little ingenuity . . .

AND WHILE ON THE TOPIC of revisiting the things we love, recently stopped by Rive Gauche Rehab, a Parisian company that specialises in the sourcing, purchase, design and renovation of Left Bank apartments, [especially in Saint Germain des Près], and saw this recently renovated space on Rue de Beaune.  Warm wood and juliet balconies, chandeliers and chevron floors, it is a Parisian dream . . .

If there is one photographer known for editorials that evoke a luxurious trip to an exotic location such as India or Morocco, and with a suitcase full of exquisite clothes ideal for the occasion, it's Norman Parkinson.  Not only did he revolutionise British Harper's Bazaar by bringing fashion from the studio to a dynamic outdoor setting—and frequently overseas—but he brought post-war photography a sense of the unexpected . . .

{GIVE-AWAY | IF I HAD TIME : WIN A ROSE GOLD WATCH}

{GIVE-AWAY | IF I HAD TIME : WIN A ROSE GOLD WATCH!}

AND IT IS A WONDERFUL THING that sometimes, the office is the beach, a castle in the highlands, or a cosy café, and that searching for and sharing beautiful things is all in a day's work.  But sometimes, with the way the days and months whirl by, it's Monday and then the weekend again, summers turning into autumns and roses fading into falling leaves, and we're left wondering what might be done with just a little more time . . .

{GIVE-AWAY | IF I HAD TIME : WIN A ROSE GOLD WATCH!}
More countryside drives on weekends and time to explore castles along the coast . . .

{GIVE-AWAY | IF I HAD TIME : WIN A ROSE GOLD WATCH!}
More time to linger over dessert, for chocolate éclairs and strawberry tarts, and rose petal tea in gold-rimmed china . . .

{GIVE-AWAY | IF I HAD TIME : WIN A ROSE GOLD WATCH!}
More time to spend along the hushed halls and herringbone floors of art galleries, amongst the gilded frames and masterpieces from times gone by . . .

{GIVE-AWAY | IF I HAD TIME : WIN A ROSE GOLD WATCH!}
More time for luxuriously languid Sunday mornings, beauty sleep, and sweet dreams . . .

{GIVE-AWAY | IF I HAD TIME : WIN A ROSE GOLD WATCH!}
And always, always more time to spend at the beach and along the coast, sun and sand and sea salt kisses . . .

LONG BEFORE IT WAS EVER a thing, this maximalist heart has been in love with leopard print.  There is just something about the way this exotic and yet wholly neutral print completes a room, a thought, or an outfit.  Sitting tight and waiting for an important parcel delivery at the moment, fielding emails and interview questions, designing a website and launching two projects, and here, for chic mid-week inspiration, a touch of leopard print . . .

Whether it's magazines, books or blogs, there has been much talk about "classic pieces", wardrobe staples which will become true friends over time and which are worth investing in. If you happen to be on the hunt for a pea coat, a cable knit sweater or pointy high heels, Emerson Fry's fall 2013 collection will probably make your heart beat a little faster. The eponymous designer is renowned for creating wearable pieces which are feminine elegant, and modern at the same time . . .

{table for two | recipe : almond butter cookies with fleur de sel}

THERE HAVE BEEN some serious cookie cravings recently -- shortbread and chocolate-covered gingersnaps, border biscuits and linzer, and all before the holidays, and so, publishing this recipe here as a reminder to try it out when there's a moment.  From Gwyneth's book, It's All Good, they are gluten-free, refined sugar-free and even vegan, and so will hopefully be a little less decadent, perfect for mid-day snacks on busy office days . . .

STILL THINKING ABOUT the home office from this past weekend's links, and somehow, through a little bit of sleuthing & searching, discovered that it was from a bright and airy townhouse in Chelsea with beautiful wood floors, gilded frames and marble powder rooms . . .

{arts & culture | book : chloé: attitudes, rizzoli, new york}

THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW upcoming books on my amazon list, some not yet released, including Chloé: Attitudes, to be released in a few days, on October 29.  In celebration of their 60th anniversary, the book chronicles the rise of the fashion house, from its beginnings in 1952, when Gaby Aghion invented the revolutionary idea of luxury prêt-à-porter, taking the craftsmanship of haute couture and making it available to a wider audience, to the current creative director, Clare Waight Keller.

{arts & culture | book : chloé: attitudes, rizzoli, new york}

"Born in Egypt in 1921 and moving to Paris when she was in her twenties, Aghion dressed some of the most fashionable and powerful women of her day, including Jackie O, Grace Kelly, and Brigitte Bardot. Her vision has always been maintained through the company s extensive career. The company s lively and fresh energy has been sustained through the decades partly because it seeks out new talent, including then-28-year-old designer Karl Lagerfeld, who started with the company in 1966. The book explores his career at Chloé, along with Martine Sitbon (in 1988), Stella McCartney, who joined Chloé when she was 26 (in 1997), and Phoebe Philo, who was responsible for Chloé s major reinvention from 2001 to 2006, where she is credited for bringing a sensual and personal touch to the line. It is currently helmed by Clare Waight Keller, who previously reinvigorated the fashion line Pringle of Scotland."

IN THE THROES of sorting through images and post production for an upcoming project when Michael's facebook comment came through, which lead to stumbling upon his instagram account.  Last week, his home in London was published here, with its dramatic black walls and pink velvet sofa, and today, a few more glimpses, including more of the utterly charming Pug, Oscar, and Jacob, the English Bulldog.

{hope you're having a beautiful autumn weekend & a few lovely links}

THE WEEKEND began with antiques shops and bicycle rides [autumn leaves all aflutter], a spontaneous stop at a favourite restaurant [candlelit and a table for two] for a charcuterie board that included soft cured chorizo, pulled pork, and champagne & hazelnut salami; golden mid-autumn sun streaming through morning windows and late nights and old films; a hopelessly languid sunday morning, a stop by the boulangerie for a of sea salt & cracked black pepper sour dough baguette, brunch in the garden and we love sundays best . . .

Hope you've having a perfectly relaxing & cosy late-autumn weekend, and that it's beautiful where you are, —Roséline xo
